Happy Labor Day!

We took Brody to the park on Labor Day. He loved swinging! Enjoy the latest pictures!

Look at that hair blowing in the breeze!

Swinging, swinging

Posing with Daddy at the park.

More swinging!

I love my new shades!

Brody's first hawkeye game!

Hanging out watching the Hawkeyes!

Asleep on grandma in the hammock.

I am such a tired boy.

Brody loves rolling around in his crib.
He also loves posing for pictures.

I love getting my picture taken!

A week or so ago, Brody was crying in his crib.
When we went in to check on him, he was
sitting up in his crib. He hadn't done that before.
Now that's all he does.

A second before this picture was taken,
Brody was crying. As soon as we pulled out
the camera, he stopped crying to smile for a picture!

8 Month Update!!

Brody turned 8 months old on Thursday!! He is getting so big! He has become a lot more vocal in the last couple of weeks. He has settled into a wonderful bedtime routine. He eats his dinner, gets a bath, listens to stories, and then goes to bed. He has finally learned how to fall asleep on his own and stay asleep. Sleeping from 8 to 6 has really helped with the transition back to work for both of us.

He has finally discovered the excitement of a book that has mirrors in it. He used to just smile at the mirrors on each page. Now he pulls the book closer to his face and taps on the mirror with his fingers to get a better look. It is hilarious!

Still no crawling yet, but we get a kick out of how hard he tries. We need to start baby - proofing the house. He already scoots towards the laptop cord whenever he can. He is also trying to hold onto the couch while standing. He likes to walk to mom with dad holding his hands. We are very lucky to have such a happy, healthy boy!

Holding daddy's wrestling belt like a champion.

Extreme close-up!

Brody was quite the little poser for his 8 month picture. I think I took 1o pictures of him on Thursday!

Busy boy

We have been super busy the last three weeks with two birthday parties, the LA Open, a Flogging Molly concert, and a wedding. Brody and I spent a lot of time at my school too. I had to pack up my classroom this year because I moved rooms and grade levels. I'm teaching first grade this year, so I spent quite a few days preparing for it before I officially went back to work on August 7th. I finally have a spare moment to update our blog.

Brody has been adjusting to the new schedule. He must have known I was exhausted because he started sleeping through the night on the night before the students started back to school. It has been so nice! He goes to bed at 8:00 and sleeps until 6:00.

Brody is going to a new babysitter this fall and is finally doing well. The first few days were kind of rough. He didn't want to eat or sleep, but now he is doing better. He's a little stubborn!

He has also begun rolling and scooting around the house. No crawling yet, but he seems to be days away from it. He is motivated to move if he sees water bottles, his batman ball, or a computer keyboard.

Cheering on the Cubs! We can't get enough of his Cubs outfits.

The hat's still a little too big.

The boys hanging out.

Brody and daddy swing in the hammock.

I love my jumperoo!

Yes, I'm a little ham for the camera.

Trying baby food meat for the first time.

Laughing

Travis and I were cleaning and found his old pickle ball paddle from college. He was hitting the ball up into the air and Brody thought it was absolutely hilarious! I had to run and get the camera. Here are two videos of him laughing.

7 Month Update!

Brody is now seven months old! We can't believe it! Each month seems to go by faster than the next. Brody got his first two teeth over the Fourth of July weekend! He loves to bite his spoon when eating now. Brody loves jumping in his jumperoo, playing with his own laptop that Dad bought him, and chewing on everything.

He is very observant and watches everything that is going on around him. He loves to look at new things. He still loves ceiling fans, remotes, and cell phones, but now loves water bottles as well. He enjoys talking to Dad on Mom's cell phone.
Brody is sitting up very well now. He is attempting to crawl, but it results in more of a scoot to get to the toy he wants. He is eating baby food very well now. He eats his baby food three times a day. He is also practicing drinking from of a sippy cup.

Brody spent his first week away from Dad when Travis had to go to San Jose for work. It was hard and he didn't sleep well at night when Travis was gone. It was so neat to see the look on Brody's face when he saw his daddy for the first time in five days. Brody is now the proud owner of a Google onesie, since Travis got to take a tour of Google from our friend Bill who works there. Brody and Mom are enjoying the last few weeks of summer vacation. Only 2 1/2 weeks until summer vacation is officially over. Where does the time go?!? Here are the latest pictures!

Happy 7 months Brody!

It is getting more difficult each month to put the sign in the picture with Brody. Last month, he kept grabbing for it, and this month the "Seven Months" sign had no chance. Brody enjoyed grabbing it every time I tried to place it in the picture.

Matching jersey and sippy cup.

Still figuring out my sippy cup.

My new high chair at Grandpa and Grandma's house.

I love the hammock!

Hanging out with Mom in the hammock.

I'm so cool in my new sunglasses.

Camryn, Regan, and Brody pose for a picture. Brody got to meet Erin and Jeff, Cheryl and Josh, and their kids, Regan and Camryn. We had a fun day of visiting and swimming.

Brody and Daddy read a bedtime story together.

Swimming!

Over the Fourth of July weekend, it was finally warm enough to swim. Brody's entire family got together in Lovilia to see him swim for the first time. We grilled out after Brody swam and everyone had a great time seeing Brody's reaction to the pool.

Trying on my swim diaper.

Brody, Mom, and Dad in Grandpa and Grandma's pool.

Brody has been really intrigued with cell phones and Dad's Xbox controller. Every time Travis plays the Xbox, Brody lunges for the controller. Travis decided to give him an old controller to hold while he played his Xbox one night. I think Brody is going to be a gamer!

Brody and Uncle Curt

Someone is very tired at Grandpa and Grandma's house.

When I went to get Brody from his crib after his nap one day, he had spun sideways in his crib.
He looked hilarious staring at me upside down!

Happy Fourth of July!!

Brody spent his first Fourth of July in Lovilia. Grandma, Mom, and Brody went to a parade while Grandpa, Dad, Ryan, and Curt went golfing. Later that day, we went to Aunt Kathy's to watch the fireworks. We didn't quite make it long enough for the fireworks, but Brody got to see and meet some more family members.

Brody likes his new stroller that will stay at Grandma and Grandpa's. His other stroller is just too big to haul home with all our other luggage.

Look at me! I'm a little firecracker!

Brody's first Fourth of July!

Hanging out at Aunt Kathy's waiting for the fireworks. Brody didn't get to see the fireworks because it was bedtime and he had hardly napped all day, so he was too sleepy.

Relaxing with Uncle Curtis and Alyssa on the Fourth of July.
